Southpaw return with their sophisticated take on punk rock. 'Thanks all the same' is the bands first full-lengther. Recorded at Premier Studios in Corby, the whole project took five days to record and two days to mix, allowing the band the opportunity to experiment with new ideas and production tricks that had previously been impossible due to time and money constraints. When compared with the raw and energised 'Goddess' (also recorded at Premier in just two days)this new album is a more polished and 'slick' affair.

The chance to release an album also meant the band could record a broader range of material than had been possible before (i.e.: on a three-track single), and so the tracks range from atmospheric rockers to up-beat and catchy pop-punk, thoughtful 'slow-burners' to epic soarers and even an acoustic song (something Southpaw have never tried before). Despite this variety, each song is solidly stamped with the unique personality of the band, allowing the album to move comfortably between styles without sounding disjointed. A great deal of thought went into the order of the tracks in a conscious effort to create an enjoyable half-hour of 'pushes and pulls' for the listener.

The band are very proud of all the thought and hard-work they put into 'Thanks all the same' and they hope that this commitment and dedication to the project is reflected in the music and design of the whole album - from start to finish the band wanted to create a package that would not only sound great and look great but would hopefully make people think "wow, these guys really love what they do!".

September 2000 will see the band returning to Premier Studios to record a ten-track second album (this looks set to be a noisier yet more thoughtful affair).
